Steve Hammond is a pastor and Christian fiction author in Newport, NH. Summers at his family’s cottage in Bailey Island, ME, with dozens of cousins and a neighbor fisherman’s family, inspired the premise of the Rock Johnson tales. In 1984, he wrote the first Rock Johnson story and introduced it while teaching a Sunday School class. Decades later, he penned all the subsequent stories while in New Hampshire.

This Christian fiction author was born and raised in Central Maine. He came to faith in 1972 and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield, ME, in 1973. Since then, he has lived and served in Bangor, ME, Putnam, CT, and Salt Point, NY.
He graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1984. Three years later, he was ordained as a pastor at the Netherwood Baptist Church in Salt Point, NY.
